#340 - Rahul Dev Burman - Shalima
I was ready for a monotone sitar album, but no! There are indian sounds
in it, but they're mixed with...everything, really, it's like a
caleidoscope of western and eastern music. Some songs sound like from
the sixties, some sound like they're from the next Quentin Tarantino
movie soundtrack, some sound indian, some more like japanese, a very
interesting album.
#339 - Tom Waits - Nighthawks At The Diner
A very lengthy album (yes, it took me over a year to listen to it) with a live performance in a bar or something. The singer has a growling, rough, whiskyish voice and sings/talks over bluesy music. It's hard to listen to for me because a) I don't like the blues, b) I don't like his voice/his style of singing and c) I don't listen so much to what he tells/sings, so the lyrical part is lost to me. It is a very atmoshpheric album, you can smell the cold cigarette dust, you can see the empty beer bottles, booze glasses with lipstick, traces of peanuts or pretzels on the counter, in this regard it's a very strong album, it makes you feel like you're there, it's just that I don't want to be there, at all.

#338 - Joni Mitchell - The Hissing Of Summer Lawns
A nice, slightly jazzy album that is dominated by Mitchell's voice which has a lightness that makes listening to this album feel like a late summer's evening. No highlights for me, but enjoyable.

#337 - Dion - Born To Be With You
A lush and richly produced pop album with a voice that reminds me of Chris de Burgh sometimes. There's a hint of country in several songs, but not nearly enough to call them country songs. There's a big instrumentation in all of the songs, filled with strings and winds. The songs themselves are nice and pleasing, without leaving a bigger impact though.

#336 - Emmylou Harris - Pieces Of The Sky
A dreamy country album with 10 unimpressive but nicely flowing songs with a soothing voice. Not bad per se, but there's just not that much in it musically, something that all country albums I heard here so far have in common.
#335 - Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run
A piano heavy rock album with several very nice melodical songs. They all have the typical Springsteen sound and a nice yearning atmosphere. Good album.
