#307 - Kraftwerk - Autobahn
A pioneer electronic album from the pioneer electronic musicians Kraftwerk. There are beautiful simple melodies, rather soft rythms, weird german vocals and very modern sounding electronic sounds that paint an abstract but beautiful acoustic picture. Very nice album.
#306 - Eric Clapton - 461Ocean Boulevard
It starts with funk, moves to reggae ("I shot the sheriff") and delivers classic rock and smooth ballads. A diverse album with several very good songs.
#305 - Stevie Wonder - Fulfillingness' First Finale
Another funk/soul/pop album by Stevie Wonder, and it's filled with diverse songs that didn't really click with me, but they sound nice and there's a lot of creativity in them.

#304 - Shuggie Otis - Inspiration Information
A nice funk soul pop jazz experience brimming with creativity. No special highlights, but a good and interesting listen.
#303 - Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
Almost too much of an album, over 92 minutes of Genesis, and while there was a lot of good material, especially in the first half, it was just so very much. In the second half there were more experimental and istrumental tracks, and everything was filled under the roof with melodies, structures, rythms. It was a good listen, but I'm glad it's over.
#302 - Bad Company - Bad Company
A straight rock album with everything a rock album needs. There are the stompers, there's the cigarette lighter ballad, and I was honestly sad when it ended. There wasn't really a highlight, but everything was just plain good. Very good album!

#301 - Brian Eno - Here Come The Warm Jets
A very modern sounding album, sometimes rock, sometimes pop, often experimental, but never unentertaining. Interesting listen.
#300 - New York Dolls - New York Dolls
A rough punky rock album which made me feel like on repeat, the songs are over after 40 seconds and everything repeats until the song ends. Strong gritty material, but not my kind of good.
#299 - The Isley Brothers - 3+3
A nice flowing soul/funk/pop/rock album with pleasant songs and a funky accompaniment that's not too funky for the one listener.
#298 - Iggy & The Stooges - Raw Power
A punky dirty rock album that has a lot of gritty power, but not much else. Wasn't really fun to listen to.
#297 - Alice Cooper - Billion Dollar Babies
A mighty bad rock album from Alice Cooper. Contains the known hit "No more Mr. Nice Guy" which sounds a bit old-fashioned, even in the context of 1973. As before the music doesn't sound all that bad as they probably hoped it would. A solid album.
#296 - The Sensational Alex Harvey Band - Next
A pretty good bluesy rock stomper with powerful songs that are not hugely great but they make for a good listen.

#295 - Paul McCartney And The Wings - Band on the Run
Another album from the ex Beatle, and it's a nice one. There are a couple of good songs on it (the title track, "Jet", "Ninteteen hundred and eighty five"), and also some rather forgettable tracks. The only question is if this is good enough for a guy that wrote songs like "Yesterday" and "The long and winding road".
#294 - ZZ Top - Tres Hombres
A rather insiginificant bluesrock album from the bearded people. It's fast straight blues rock, but there are no special songs, no hook. It's a solid album, but that doesn't make it any special.

#293 - Stevie Wonder - Innervisions
A funk/soul album filled with funk/soul. It often is the sticky kind of funk, wich I don't really care for. The slower soul songs are a little better, but nothing really clicks with me.
#292 - Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
First of all, to me the album doesn't sound as big as it seems to be (over 1300 reviews on amazon, many other big albums have ~300). Most of the songs are very relaxed slow rock songs, flowing nicely and with a rather dark mood and somehow feeling very open and airy. Even the vocals have a kind of thinnes to it. I didn't like the saxophone parts much, but my most favorite song was "Us and them".
#291 - Waylon Jennings - Honky Tonk Heroes
A relaxed and okay country album. Nothing very special about it, no great songs, no great voice, no great music, but it's all good as far as country goes.
#290 - Steely Dan - Countdown To Ecstasy
A nice rock/pop album with pleasant songs and nice harmonic singing. No big thing, but enjoyable throughout.

#289 - Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Another box of pralines, but this time all with a flavor I don't really like, wich is John's voice. It's just a matter of personal taste, the songs are good examples of very nice pop songs, ranging in mood and style. With a different singer I'd probably have liked this album.
#288 - Todd Rundgren - A Wizard, A True Star
An album like a box of pralines, much different stuff in it and something for everyone. There were no real highlights here for me, but the music is diverse and high quality throughout the 19 songs.
#287 - Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells *
An album out of time. It consists of only two tracks which have several different elements. These range from instrumental rock pieces to dreamy folky tunes to parts that can't really be put to any genre. There are recurring themes and wonderful melodies, but also parts that are less memorable. The main theme is a hypnotic piano melody that is widely known, as is the part where instruments are added one by one to a growing arrangement. An outstanding album that is one of a kind.
#286 - Mott The Hoople - Mott
For the most parts this album sounds rather insignificant to me, there's nothing special, mediocre rock with a voice that always sounds a bit like talking or yelling instead of singing. There are some songs that are nice though, "Hymn for the dudes" is a beautiful slow song, as is "The ballad of Mott".

#285 - Herbie Hancock - Head Hunters
A strange album, coming from jazz, but being something different. It's very repetitive, often funky, and somehow strangely hypnotic. A very interesting listen.
#284 - Faust - Faust IV
A very modern sounding album, with tracks ranging from pure sounds (or noise, sometimes) to more accessible rock-like songs. Oozes experimentation and creativity without sounding totally alienating and boring.

#283 - Roxy Music - For Your Pleasure
Some of the songs on this album are really cool, driving interesting rock with a still very nice voice. About half of the album seems to go nowhere though, it's just pointless sounds and doesn't hit me at all.
#282 - John Martyn - Solid Air
A largely acoustic album with a dark yet somehow irritating voice. The songs range from blues to folk to jazz and vary from boring to nice.
#281 - Marvin Gaye - Let's Get It on
An album full of sensual sexual soul songs, easy as that. If you watched The King of Queens, you might know the title track. It is, appropriately, used as music for love making.
#280 - Genesis - Selling England By the Pound
A very good album by the famous band, at the time still with Peter Gabriel as the singer. Complex and multilayered, yet accessible and colorful, no boring moment on this album.
#279 - Lou Reed - Berlin
A very depressing (or depressed) album. The songs sound good, but the off-key vocals, sometimes more spoken than sung, can't keep up with the lush music, but maybe that's part of the depressing atmosphere.
#278 - Can - Future Days
Considering that the last Can album was pretty much beyond music, this one is a step back. There's a lot of actual music going on, often accompanied by muffled vocals. It's not like I found any new favorite songs here, but the music emits a certain niveau that is nice to listen to.
#277 - John Cale - Paris 1919
A neat lush pop album with nice songs that flow by like a spring day, but they didn't grap me, there was no emotion in it for me.
#276 - Hawkwind - Space Ritual
A very long live album with some nice rocky punky moments and a lot of rather boring soundscapes and spoken words. I almost didn't realize that it was a live album, only at the end you can hear the audience. If this was condensed to about 30 minutes, I'd like it.

#275 - Bob Marley and The Wailers - Catch a Fire
With an absolute trademark sound this is a very good debut album from Bob Marley. There's only one widely known hit, "Stir it up", but the whole album flows and grooves nicely by. Relaxing and pleasant listen.
#274 - King Crimson - Lark's Tongues in Aspic
A difficult progressive rock album that went right over my head. Arbitrary sounds and wild melodies, little singing, with the exception of "Book of Saturday" which is something like an actual song, there was nothing in this album for me
#273 - David Bowie - Alladin Sane
The next David Bowie album is a mixed bag with songs varying greatly in genre and quality, ranging from the cool rocker "Panic in Detroit" to the rather unpleasant title track with an endless unharmonic piano solo. The Stones cover "Let's spend the night together" is worse than the original. Not a very good album.
#272 - Michael Viner's Incredible Bongo Band - Bongo Rock
As the album title suggests, this is bongo rock. 8 instrumental rock tracks with the addition of horns and the depicted bongo. It often sounds like it could be a soundtrack to a movie. It contains some covers, including "In-a-gadda-da-vida" by Iron Butterfly and a track from 1960 named "Apache". This one is more famous than many know, not because of the song itself, even though it has a nice hook, but for a drum break that has been sampled many times for numerous hip hop and break beat songs, and it is said that hip hop got started with a loop of this drum break.
#271 - Lynyrd Skynyrd - (Pronounced 'Leh-'Nérd 'Skin-'Nérd)
The big points in this album go to the epic rock ballads, "Freebird", "Tuesday's gone" and "Simple man". three great slow head nodders. The other songs range from acoustic to bluesy rock and don't have such a big impact, but three big ones is not that bad for only 8 songs.
#270 - The Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street
A pretty good album by the Stones with a very consistent sound, held together, ironically, by the omnipresent piano. There are no famous hits on this album, but the songs rock by nicely.

#269 - Al Green - Let's Stay Together
A heartful soul album with the title track as a minor hit. It went by nicely, but I wasn't sad when it was over.
#268 - War - World Is a Ghetto
A rather strenuous heavy dark funk album with okay funky rythms and bass, very few vocals and a lot of strenuous sax work. I was happy when it was over.
#267 - David Bowie - The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars
This is one of those album everyone has heard of but fewer have heard it. It's a colorful and diverse pop album with beautifully arranged interesting songs spanning from ballads to rockers to clear pop tracks. Not a legendary listen, but a good one.
#266 - The Temptations - All Directions
Only 33 minutes in 12 songs, yet one of them is over 11 minutes long. It's the centerpiece of the album, a widely known song named "Papa was a rolling stone", a hypnotic track that transcends the black harmonic singing soul that is The Temptations, it's as simple as it can be, a monotonous bass line, a hi hat, a wah wah guitar and some strings. Combine it in the right way and you have this great song. There are other nice songs on the album, though, I especially liked "The first time ever". Good album, great main song.
#265 - Alice Cooper - School's Out
Everybody knows the rocking title track, and the rest of the album is surprisingly diverse. Alice Cooper can do more than gnarling as it seems, and the songs vary from other rockers to calmer pop songs. Nice listen
#264 - Roxy Music - Roxy Music
A rather ambivalent album. There are good moments, when all elements, being the interesting vibrato voice, the sax and the synth sounds, come together and the songs sound as one, and there are moments, where everything seems to work on its own and the result sounds rather chaotic.

#263 - Paul Simon - Paul Simon
A beautiful debut album by the bigger half of Simon & Garfunkel, at least regarding creativity. The musical style is largely similar, it's guitar folk at it's core, and as with S&G, there are just wonderful songs and melodies on this album. Also there are already some exotic instruments, maybe a foreshadow of Simon's later world music explorations. A great listen, although the harmonic singing of S&G is dearly missed.
#262 - Nick Drake - Pink Moon
A great intimate melancholy folk album by Nick Drake. There's nothing more than an acoustic guitar and a voice, but it's more than enough. The songs are very beautiful, fragile, sad, just wonderful.
#261 - Tim Buckley - Greetings From L.A.
A wild mixture of blues, folk, jazz, funk and rock, and it's not a mixture of my taste. The songs don't stick, and I don't particularly like the singing style.
#260 - The Eagles - The Eagles
A nice relaxed country rock album with hit singles "Take it easy" and "Witchy woman". A good listen through and through, they managed to make country elements not sound uncool and there are just some very good songs on the album.
#259 - David Ackles - American Gothic
A piano-heavy album which wanders between melancholy piano songwriter music and songs with an opera or musical feel to it. Not bad, but the stylistic inconsistencies made it less good than it could be.
#258 - T.Rex - The Slider
Another very nice album by T.Rex, including the hit "Metal guru". It pleases with every song, be it the acoustic ballad or the high-adrenaline glam rocker. Good from start to finish.
